Independence Day in Plantation, FL — Parade, Concert & Fireworks Guide
My kid asked if we were going to see fireworks this year. I said yes before I even knew the schedule. Here's everything so you don't have to figure it out at 6pm on July 4th.
Plantation throws a proper July 4th. Parade in the morning, pool open through the afternoon, then a full evening block at Central Park with live music, a kids zone, and fireworks. The city handles the whole day — you just have to show up at the right times.
The Morning Parade — 9am
The parade kicks off at 9am at the corner of West Broward Boulevard and NW 46th Avenue, heads west to NW 69th Avenue, then turns right on NW 4th Street and ends at City Hall with an awards ceremony. It's a real parade — floats, community groups, bands. Plan for it to run 45 minutes to an hour.
Afternoon — Aquatic Complex Open 10am to 2pm
After the parade wraps, the Plantation Aquatic Complex opens to the public from 10am to 2pm. If you've got kids who need somewhere to burn energy between the morning and the evening, this is your window. It closes early so the city can pivot to the evening event, so don't plan on getting there at 1:30.
The Evening Block at Central Park — 6pm to 9pm
This is the main event. Head to the Plantation Central Park Ball Fields on the evening of July 4th. The schedule:
Evening schedule
- 6:00pm — Kids zone opens
- 7:00pm — Concert begins (The Brass Evolution)
- 9:00pm — Fireworks by Zambelli
The Brass Evolution is a South Florida–based cover band — think crowd-pleasing hits, danceable, good for all ages. They're a solid fit for a July 4th crowd. The concert runs two hours, which is exactly the right amount before you want to be done anyway.
Fireworks are by Zambelli, one of the bigger professional fireworks companies in the US. This isn't a budget show. They light it up at 9pm and it's worth staying for.
What to Bring
The city says to bring a picnic dinner, lawn chairs, and a blanket. Food will also be available for purchase on-site. My take: bring your own food and a good cooler. Food vendors at outdoor events in July are hit or miss, and waiting in line with hungry kids while the band is playing is nobody's good time.
| Item | Why |
|---|---|
| Lawn chairs or blanket | You'll be there for 3 hours |
| Cooler with drinks and food | Vendor lines get long |
| Bug spray | July evening in Florida — non-negotiable |
| Ear protection for young kids | Zambelli fireworks are loud |
| Portable phone charger | 3-hour outing will drain your battery |
Parking
Plantation Central Park is at 9151 NW 2nd Street. Parking fills up fast once the kids zone opens at 6pm. I'd plan to arrive no later than 5:30 if you want a decent spot. Rideshare drop-off nearby is also a solid option if you'd rather skip the parking scramble entirely — just don't expect to grab a ride home right at 9pm when everyone leaves at once.
