The Short Version

I'm a dad living in Plantation, Florida. I kept running into the same problem: when I had a real, specific question about this city — the alarm permit process, how water bills actually work, what grass goes in this climate, where to take the kids on a Saturday — I couldn't find a good answer anywhere. Everything was either too generic, outdated, or buried in a Facebook group thread from 2019.

So I started writing it down. Not as a blog. More as a practical guide to the place I live, built up question by question.

Who This Is For

If you live in Plantation, just moved here, or are thinking about it — this site is for you. The articles cover city-specific processes, local spots, home stuff (South Florida homes have very specific quirks), and practical recommendations from someone who has worked through it all firsthand.

It's not a news site. It's not trying to cover all of Broward County. The focus is intentionally narrow: Plantation, the decisions that come with living here, and the things I wish I'd known sooner.

How Articles Get Written

Every article starts with a real question — something I actually needed to figure out, or something a neighbor asked me and I realized I didn't have a clean answer for. I research it, work through it personally when I can, and then write up what I found in plain language.

Some articles have affiliate links to products I've actually used. If you buy through one, I get a small commission. That's how the site stays running. I only link to things I'd genuinely recommend — the beer fridge article exists because I own the beer fridge.

What "Leave With Dad" Means

It's a simple idea: things are more interesting when you do them with someone. The original concept was dad-and-kid outings in South Florida — places worth going, things worth doing together. That's still part of it. But it expanded naturally into everything involved in actually living here: the home, the city, the practical decisions.

The "Dad" in the name isn't a persona. It's just the angle — the practical, slightly opinionated perspective of someone who owns a house, pays the bills, mows the lawn (St. Augustine, which has opinions), and is always looking for the next thing worth doing with the kids.
